Travel with me: Cuba

I got to travel to Cuba with the airline Wingo in late November and had one of the most amazing experiences ever! Cuba was one of those places that was on my wishlist, but I hadn't really researched much about it, so when the opportunity came my way to actually visit it I said yes.

Tuve la oportunidad de viajar a Cuba con la aerolínea Wingo a finales de Noviembre y fue una de las experiencias más increíbles! Cuba era uno de esos lugares que estaba en mi lista de viajes por hacer, pero la verdad no había investigado mucho, entonces cuando la oportunidad llegó a mi dije que sí.

Our first official stop was Cayo Coco, one of the keys in Cuba, because we arrived in Havana and stayed the night but took off early in the morning, so we didn't get to see anything. We took a charter from Havana to Cayo Coco, but there is an international airport you can fly to directly. There we stayed at the Pullman Cayo Coco hotel right on the water. 

Nuestra primera parada oficial fue en Cayo Coco, llegamos inicialmente en la noche a la Habana pero salimos temprano el siguiente día y no alcanzamos a ver nada. Tomamos un avión charter a Cayo Coco, pero hay un aeropuerto internacional al que se puede volar directamente. Nos hospedamos en el hotel Pullman de Cayo Coco que quedaba sobre la playa.

 We got to the hotel and the first thing we did was head to Cayo Guillermo, about 30-45 minutes away, and ride these tiny little boats in an amazing tour across the coastline! You can check that experience out in my YouTube vlog and if you decide to go they are called Boat Adventours.

Llegamos al hotel a cambiarnos y salimos directo para Cayo Guillermo, como a 30-45 minutos, para hacer un tour en botecitos increíble! Pueden ver la experiencia en mi canal de YouTube y si deciden ir se llamaba Boat Adventours.

We saw the sunset from the water and it was so incredibly beautiful view. We spent the night at Cayo Coco and then headed back to Havana quickly in the morning. We stopped by the center of the city and got to experience all the typical sights of Havana, with the gorgeous buildings and vintage cars.
We stayed in the Melia Habana with a view to the ocean, the hotel is definitely an older and not so updated, but it was clearly one of the most prestigious back in the day (remember Cuba's history). At night we headed to see Tropicana and made a night out of it!

Vimos el atardecer desde el agua y era una vista demasiado hermosa. Nos quedamos esa noche en Cayo Coco y salimos temprano en la mañana para la Habana de nuevo. Estuvimos en el centro de la ciudad con las vistas pintorescas y los carros antiguos. Nos hospedamos en el Melia Habana, con vista al océano. En la noche fuimos a Tropicana y disfrutamos la noche ahí.

We also headed to Old Havana and we had a tour with all the history of the city. We had lunch at la Bodeguita del Medio, where Hemingway used to hangout, (be sure to get a mojito!) and had a stroll around the city before heading back to the airport.

También estuvimos en la Vieja Habana e hicimos un tour con toda la historia de la zona. Almorzamos en la Bodeguita del Medio y caminamos por el área antes de salir para el aeropuerto.

Now for some recommendations when traveling to Cuba:

• You will feel like you are going back in time, no easy access to wifi. You have to pay for it and there's only wifi at hotels and airports (some of them)
• There's not that many restaurants so try to eat at your hotels. Some of the most well known restaurants are: La Bodeguita del Medio and La Ferminia
• Go to Tropicana, it is a dance and music show that is 100% worth it!
